Week 21, An Update

Well, I had another check-up today. That means a weigh-in:

I weighed in at 177.1 pounds today. I'm up 3.8 pounds from my last appointment 6 weeks ago. I'm still technically below the "recommended" weight gain for my BMI, but the doctor is not worried, so I'm good.

Needless to say, I feel AWESOME. :]

I also passed my early screening glucose test, which is amazing news. I still have to take the regular sugar test in about 6 weeks or so, but the doctor said my chances of actually having G.D. are much lower since I passed this first test.

We got to hear Jasper's heartbeat today. He's measuring at a stead and strong 144 beats per minute, which is awesome.

When we had the ultrasound two weeks ago, he was just wiggling around to his tiny heart's content. 9 times out of 10 when I feel him kicking, he's attacking my bladder. He a very active little guy.

My next appointment is at the end of March. I can't wait. :]
Jasper Gregory Bohman at 19 weeks. Creepy, huh?

20 Day Pregnancy Challenge: Days 6-12

  • Day Six: Baby’s first picture. A picture of your first ultrasound.
L.B. at 10 weeks, 2 days.
  • Day Seven: Do you have a birthing plan?
Not at the moment. This is something that Husband and I are going to talk about when he comes home. I'll be about 6-7 months along by then, and much closer to actually needing one.

I had one with Bear, but that all went out the window. :/
  • Day Eight: What is your biggest food craving?
Anything fruity and sweet. But not, like, cookies, or something. I like fruit flavored candy. And cereals. I just have the biggest sweet tooth with this pregnancy.

  • Day Nine: What sex did/do you hope for?
We want a girl, but honestly we wouldn't mind if we were having another boy. But we really want a girl. :]
  • Day Ten: A picture of your baby bump and how you feel about how you look.
17 weeks, 4 days. 2-1-12
I feel pretty dang good about how I look. Granted, I wasn't small before I was pregnant, but I don't think I look too horrible. :]
  • Day Eleven: The baby shower: What do you plan for? Hope for?
Honestly? I'm not even expecting one. :/

  • Day Twelve: How did you tell your parents the news? The baby’s dad’s parents?
A phone call. Haha. That was pretty much it. Well, we sent a picture of the pregnancy test with a caption saying "Estimated Due Date: July 2012" but we still called them. :]

Guess What!

As of January 23, 2012, I can feel teeny, tiny baby flutters! And at only 16 weeks!

And, yes, I do know that they are flutters, and not tummy rumbles. The difference in the feelings is insane.

Yay!

I waited until now to post this, so I could give Husband a chance to know first.

Bye!

20 Day Pregnancy Challenge: Day 5

Day Five: What trimester are you in, and how do you feel?

I'm in the second trimester. I honestly feel like crap.

I still wake up and need to run to the bathroom. I'm nauseous throughout the day. Food holds no appeal for me. I get light headed, my back hurts and I am constantly tired, even though I can't sleep. I'm an emotional wreck, and my mood swings are intense.

Awesome. :/

20 Day Pregnancy Challenge: Day 4

Day Four: How did you find out you were expecting?

Well...I was late. Which wasn't unusual for me, since things had been all out of whack since my surgery.

But things were definitely different this time around. I felt different. So Husband and I got a pregnancy test, I took it, and BAM! Pregnant!
Positive test, taken on 11-11-11.

20 Day Pregnancy Challenge: Day 3

Day Three: Do you know the day you conceived?

I'm assuming either on or right around October 15, 2011. It fits with the day of my last...well, ya know...and it's right on track with how developed the baby is in the ultrasound.
Baby bump! 16 weeks, 5 days.
Prolly a little too much TMI, but I just answer the questions. :]

20 Day Pregnancy Challenge: Day 1

Day One: A picture of you and five facts.

This picture was taken on 1-13-12 (14 weeks, 6 days).
  • I’m 21 years old.
  • I already know what the nursery is going to look like.
  • I have one son, Little Bear.
  • I really dislike people and try to avoid them as a general rule in life.
  • I really hope that L.B. (Little Baby) is a girl. But I will be happy with another boy.

Update!

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here.

I had a doctor's appointment today, and I couldn't be happier.

Well, I could, but that's only if Husband were here. Stupid deployments. Boo.

Anyway, back to the baby!

First off, the weight gain.
I weighed in at 173.4 today. It's not quite within my recommended range for being 16 weeks along, but I'm not too worried. I'm only off by a couple of pounds.

I've been eating way healthier than I was before I was pregnant. Less junk food, so that might be why I've not gained a bunch of weight.

After the weigh-in, we got to hear Little Baby's heart! The midwife pulled out the Doppler, and found L.B. without any difficulty, a bit below and to the right of my bellybutton.

L.B.'s heart is going strong in the high 140s, and L.B. even wiggled around a bit for us. Before the midwife identified that the weird static noise was, in fact, wiggles, I felt a light little flutter. So maybe that was the first kick felt!!

While we were listening to the heartbeat and wiggles, Bear had the biggest grin on his face. He still doesn't quite get it, but he knows that Mommy and Daddy pay a lot of attention to Mommy's tummy.

After the appointment, I scheduled the ultrasound.

We find out the gender of Little Baby on February 16. I'll be 19 weeks along.

Well, I'm off!

Sometimes I Love My Nurses

So, I had my first appointment this week. It was just a simple intake appointment, where the nurse asked me a lot of questions for paperwork. Woo.

Pretty much the only cool things that happened this appointment were weight fixing, and making our ultrasound appointment.

The nurse told me that since I dropped a lot of weight really quickly due to my surgery back in August, that my pre-pregnancy weight will be considered what I weighed before. SO!
I like this one a lot better.

Also, I will be getting my ultrasound on Monday! I will be ten weeks and three days along, which I think is really cool. I was exactly that far along when I had my first ultrasound with Bear.

I can't wait to compare them. It's gonna look awesome. :]

9 Weeks

Guess what?! Husband and I bought our first baby-related purchases this week. Well, other than a pregnancy test. :]

Wanna know what they are?
A cute little outfit and a baby name book!

We are so excited. Only 31 more weeks to go.
I can't wait to see L.B. dancing and swimming around during the sonogram, which should be coming up here in a week or two. Hopefully.

Another cool thing: L.B. is about an inch long now, and is now a full-fledged fetus. Woo!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

DIY-able

Probably one of the best parts about pregnancy is, for me, getting to decorate. Now, don't get me wrong, feeling the little kicks and seeing the little gummy bear in the ultrasound photos are amazing. But designing something that your little baby will spend a lot of time in, and getting to recognize as "mine" is just so much fun.

However...spending the money to make that perfect nursery a reality...Yeah. Not so much fun.

First, there's the furniture. I've already shared my perfect crib for Little Baby here. But I'm pretty much stuck there. I want to be able to save some room in L.B.'s tiny little nursery (at least, I'm almost positive it will be tiny. I don't know for sure yet.) by combining the dresser and changing table, like so:
via Domestic Adventure
I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to find a dresser suitable for this on Craigslist or Bookoo for a halfway decent price.

After spending upwards of $400 on furniture and a mattress, next comes the actual bedding and decor. Yikes. I have yet to find a full set of bedding (quilt, crib skirt, fitted sheet and bumpers) for under $100. I think Bear's was about $125, and that was without all of the accessories.

As for the mobile, I think I'm going to do a mix of yarn pom-poms and tissue paper poof balls. Different textures in the main colors would be fun.

I've been fabric hunting for the last week, and I think that, yes, I'm definitely going to be making the bedding and accessories for L.B.'s room. Erin from Domestic Adventure has a lot of nursery DIY ideas that I'm definitely going to be using as inspiration.

I found the main fabrics for L.B.'s nursery.

If L.B. turns out to be a girl:

If L.B. turns out to be a boy, though, I want to use these fabrics:

The Amy Butler fabric can be seen in use here:

Definitely looks cute with red. :]

Of course, whatever we're having, I'm going to be buying some solid color minky fabrics for a bunch of the projects, plus the crochet baby blanket I'm making is going to match for sure.

I really can't wait to find out what we're having. I almost just wanna buy about 10 yards of each of the fabrics, because I honestly would love to use all of them in the decor. And I wouldn't have to wait at least ten weeks to start on the nursery. Either way, I think I will get the stripes.

Nursery Ideas & Toddler Rooms

Just let me make this one thing clear: I've been gathering nursery ideas for Baby since I had Bear. I LOVE planning out nurseries. It's so much fun!

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, time to share some of the ideas I've been hoarding in my noggin.

I also think I am going to make a lot of the bedding. Or at least try to. I already have a pattern for a minky crib sheet. Plus, I've made a quilt before, so I know I can do that, too.

Also, in the middle of doing this, I'm going to be updating Bear's room, too. Make it less animal themed and more animal accented. He's even going to be getting a blanket crocheted by Mommy. :]

I really can't wait to get started on all of this. It's going to be so much fun!

There's A Baby In There!

We found out the awesome news on 11-11-11. It was like a wish come true.

I'm still recovering from surgery, and I still have to get a T-Tube taken out of my abdomen.

Husband is being quite the trooper. He refuses to let me do anything strenuous. Well, he was like that before, but now that we're pregnant, he is extra stern about it.

Bear still has no idea what is going on. I wouldn't really expect a 15 month old to grasp the "new baby" thing now, though. Not until Baby is here, anyway.

We still have to go to the OB/GYN, but from the whole "calculate from the first day of your last period" thing, I'm due in July, which makes me about 6 weeks. We'll see for sure when we go to the doctor.
